Someone called Barnet. 20C. liked it for austerity and the fact that it is oil on canvas but looks like charcoal. Frame is gorgeous worth more than a painting, but I like em both.

Last but not least , fake Corot, but a really good fake. So the painting will be a keeper. May be I am going to loose it some day playing cards, wouldn't that be a laugh.

Qualifies as antique ,imho.
Hennessy Cognac N1 Tres Vieille,
"Hennessy No. 1 was created in 1857 and it is the grandfather of all Hennessy blends. Occasionally, a small barrel of this cognac was bottled for special friends of the firm. This was indeed an exceptional cognac, well balanced, full bodied and with extremely delicate and noble aromas. Today, it is a very special "Cuvée" exclusively reserved for the Hennessy family, and it is not commercialised anymore."

For mid century listed artist fans. Underappreciated Armand Sinko, currently in Paris Academy of Fine Art and MET in NYC. Will be getting proper conservation treatment and a new frame

For fans of well executed oil on canvas. I just love this little painting, it is great.

I feel sad when I realise that most people spend infinitely more on cars, TVs and junk food than on original art. All these paintings put together cost less that an annual cable bill .

Picked this up at a thrift...magazine rack?

Dovetailed drawers, hand planed...this is not my forte, but knew it was worth the $70.

What kind of wood is this? Style and is it US or European? And how old do we think it is?

The posh name for this is a canterbury. They were made for holding sheet music next to your piano, but yes, most of the survivors now see duty as magazine racks (I have one for that purpose).

I'm no expert but my guess be early 20th century, edwardian maybe. All that scrolling foliate detail has an air of art nouveau about it, but it also has a sort of solidity that I associate with that period. Even less of an expert on wood, some sort of tropical hardwood perhaps? And I don't know the first thing about American furniture: if you were in Europe I would guess it came from central Europe, but could just as well be American for all I know.

But yes, $70 for a nice hand made thing of solid hardwood is a bargain when you start to think about the work that must have gone into it.

I just bought this because I wanted to see if it fits with Saarinen marble-top table as a kitchen light.
Please tell me it was a big mistake:)

I was just going through some old lights deciding what to sell.

Crisscross Nelson Bubble is out.

This I love but don't have a spot for it anymore.
