An oxy-moron to some.  But "good quality" none-selvedge?  Do such denimz exist?  Open discussion and debate.  Commence.

off the top of my head, japan blue by momotaro natural indigos are nonselvedge, as are ACNE jeans, many nudies, etc. selvedge doesn't mean quality, cf Old Navy selvedge jeans

Reason why I ask is I'm thinking about investing in a pair of black denim but really don't want to spend the 6months to a year in breaking in a pair of raw and rigid denim.  I just want to buy a pair.  Put them on.  Be set.  I'm thoroughly considering Acne.  Other suggestions?

Yea realize that selvedge definitely doesn't equate to quality.  Reason I'm inquiring from sf is because I'm trying to purchase a pair of black denim but don't feel like breaking them in.  Just want a pair that is soft, fits well, good construction, and be set.  I realize Acne has some excellent washes.  Have neither tried Momotaro nor Iron Heart.  Though Iron Heart is heavy stuff (upwards of 18oz.)?

Breaking jeans in has nothing to do with selvedge...

I realize that.  You only break in raw or rigid unwashed denim.

Well if you find a raw pair you like why not just wash before you start wearing them.

If you want comfort I'd suggest you get yourself a jean with some stretch in it. Acne makes indeed really good, well fitting, non-selvedge jeans. Also Naked & Famous has some non-selvedge stertchy denims, and LVC has their 605 jeans which are also nice slim fitting and non-selvedge.

Can anyone attest to the quality of BLK DNM?  Just curious.

not impressed with blk dnm, the ones i tried on were black and washed black with slight distressing, i believe they were made in thailand or vietnam, denim felt like average mall brand quality, i would get them if they fit you well as their fits are pretty good, but in terms of quality, nothing special at all

Yeah I tried on a pair and the fit is spot on.  I'm 5'7" with proportionally longer torso than legs so the higher rise on Jeans 9 really flattered my body type.
