Washing wool pants

Just got a new wool pants and supposedly we should only dry clean them,

but I wash it like usual in a washing machine and it's fine. 

 

Do you only dry clean your wool clothings?

Supposedly?  I'd hate to see the waistband on those.

Yes and rarely at that.

I handwash wool trousers in cool water and then press them myself with no problem. Have no choice sometimes when a dry cleaner is not available.
