Brown shoes. Don't wear the green socks. When seated, they'll probably will be visible; if anyone notices, the inner judgment of green socks with a green pocket square likely will be poor.

Yes, the bridesmaids will be wearing the same dress. And it's a fairly small wedding party (two groomsmen and two bridesmaids), so I think that I could almost get away with my two groomsmen having the same tie and it not looking like a uniform. But I do see the argument for having everyone a little diffrerent. Maybe the best thing to do would be to simply give my groomsmen a few different ties to choose from, and if they both want the same tie, so be it.

Hopefully this won't reignite the "match vs. don't match" debate... nest.gif

Their suits don't match. It is therefore impossible for them to match fully. You won't get any special points for having two people wearing different suits but the same tie. Once you said the suits were not the same, we moved past the "match vs. don't match" debate in favor of "don't match." I think that if the suits are different, identical ties would be odd. YMMV.

Ok still trying to figure this out. Apologies if either questions have been answered before.
In context of garden/winery summer wedding. 3/4 of my groomsmen have nice midgrey suits from their own weddings so I figure ill ask them to wear those.

1- is it ok one of them is fine pinstriped? Will this be too different from the rest if the party to stand out? Iirc all the pics I've seen posted here are of slightly differing shades and cuts but not patterns.

2- could I get away with a light navy myself? Annoyingly I can't try anything on as I'm both awkwardly shaped AND a tubby bitch which means I'm going the mtm rout and grey may be out of my comfort zone without being able to try first.

Pinstripe is not ideal--its a business pattern--but if its not obvious, it's not the end of the world.

So I presume you already own this navy suit and that it fits you well? And what shade of lighter-than-navy are we talking about?

Yes, is the bridal party is that small there is no real reason for matching.

Why is gray out of your comfort zone? It is a relatively conservative color. Would you be able to try on a gray suit that doesn't fit to at least get an idea of what the color looks like on you? You should be able to extrapolate from there what a properly-fitting gray suit would look like.

Well I'm still pretty new to dressing 'properly' in general and rule of thumb is that big guys should wear darker colours. So atm my suit collection is 1 charcoal 1 navy. Both mtm. Being new and unimaginative I am also not good at figuring out if something that looks awful otr on me might look good if it actually fit.

I think grey looks good on men of most shapes and sizes. But you are the groom right? I would prefer to wear a different colour than your groomsmen. That's me. I am getting married in a month and I will be wearing a midnight blue tuxedo and my groomsmen will be wearing grey waistcoats.

Pinstripe is what my friend wore for his wedding, not my choice unless I tell him to buy a new one at which point might as well start renting.
Whilst I have a navy suit (as of 4hrs ago!) that isn't what I meant . It is just that I am more comfortable with darker colors and whatever I wear will be ordered mtm off a swatch with no chance to try it until it arrives. (I actually really like mid grey though especually pick and pick if I could pull it off).

And I think in retrospect it is just navy looking at. Just looks less navy in sunlit wedding pics

I think I have settled on a tie; these are a made to order deal.  What do you think of the swatch?  Black morning coat, dove grey vest, blue/white striped Winchester shirt, not quite charcoal subtly plaid trousers, gold jewelry, silk plush topper.

You're the only one wearing a tuxedo? Your groomsmen are wearing 3 pc suits or just waistcoats?
