Your tie width should be in proportion to the lapels on your jacket. If you have a big chest, the lapels should be on the wider side to be in proportion to your frame. Also, what kind of shirt collar will you be using....will there be a spread collar? If so a wider/ thicker tie may fill it better. Length should not be an issue at 5'8".
I'm getting a shirt made with the RLPL keaton collar, a cutaway, so the tie can be on the thick
side. I happen to like the sharpness that collar gives to the look. The custom suit I'm having made, we are doing normal (classic) width lapels, not the narrow ones. So it should be good to go. I'll be sure to post pictures from the big day!

I would really like a vest with my suit, however, I'm not crazy about a matching 3-piece suit for celebrations. To me it's too "law firm partner" or something. I would, however, consider getting a contrasting vest in a light glenplaid/PoW pattern if this would be better than a simpler 2-piece. Another reason why I was a bit afraid of getting a vest is that we will be outside in the middle of July, and it may be very hot. This may be my biggest dilemma of the whole event. Especially since a vest in the dormeuil mohair would cost as much as a nice new pair of black shoes, something else I still need to purchase. I could possibly do a PoW from Scabal or something for a lower price than the dormeuil mohair, and it could provide that "punch" I'm looking for. But I still want to look as formal as possible... So torn...If you are going custom, then definitely get a three-piece...how many times are you going to be the center-of-attention for an entire day in a custom suit? Go for The Full Monty.
Can anyone suggest a nice linen shirt to wear with this suit?
Would dirty bucks be a good shoe choice? Wedding is casual, in the desert, and hot. I am groom.
