I'd like to stick with TLB Mallorca and will likely do a custom make up for Rendenbach soles and leather selection. Perhaps mixing in suede or broguing can bring down the formality of the oxford for use with odd trousers and a sport coat. I'd consider any other suggestions as well. Thanks!

Mazel tov. So much of this will depend on your personal tastes. I don't wear oxfords with odd combinations so I'd vote split toes or tassels. I personally think tassel loafers look better with a suit than split toes but that goes to taste if you want to be able to bounce between the two. Can't go wrong with a dark brown or black tassel loafer (I wear my black pair more often than dark brown suede FWIW) Another option to consider would be a plain toe derby.

Since it's your wedding, go with what really catches your eye/makes you excited. It's a celebration and sounds like you're already better prepared/dressed than 99.9% of grooms - so have fun with it

Thank you! That's great advice to go with what I'm excited about. I think suede is a good option for me if I go the oxford route.

Thank you! A black tassel loafer is something I've been eyeing for some time now. I do think the NST could be more sleek with the blind toe stitch.

This is a question from curiosity - I am not getting married. Is there such a dress code as "Morning Dress Optional"? It seems many people here want to recommend that grooms and potentially their wedding parties wear morning dress, but this runs the risk of excluding guests who are unwilling or unable to hire the rig, and edges into the dangerous territory of outdressing the guests. Would it solve this problem to expand the dress code or is this tantamount to ignoring the issue? I am envisioning a dress code which encompasses any day outfit at least as formal as a navy blue or charcoal grey suit worn with a sober tie and black oxfords (and maybe an odd waistcoat).

I did black tie optional and I wish I just said black tie.

Here's the thing: the people who can do morning dress will do their best. The ones that can't won't, and they wouldn't have anyway. So just remove the confusion of optional and go for it, and the people that can't make the dress code aren't just going to miss out on the event anyway.

Getting married this summer and looking into tuxedos! I’m quite partial to this one listed by The Armoury, the model 104 in midnight. Wanted to garner some thoughts on the tuxedo and if I should try some other brands? Thanks!

Hello everyone!

I‘m getting married this summer in the south of Italy to a wonderful Italian woman. So far so good.

My only problem is that I have absolutely zero idea where to get my suit from and how much I should be spending.

I would describe myself as a discreet and reserved person. I don't like to show off. Quality is important to me. When I buy something, I prefer to pay more, but it has to fit and last for years. Thus, I am well aware that manual labour and quality cost money. But I'm not prepared to pay 6,000 euros or more just so that I can call a suit from Caraceni or Rubinacci my own.

Also, I am well aware that the different Italian styles are completely different. Personally, I quite like the Milanese style. However, as my wife is from the south, I wouldn't be averse to a Neapolitan cut either. There, however, the question of fitting on site arises.

Do you have any recommendations for high-quality tailors who don't yet charge ridiculous prices (preferably Milan but also Naples)? I'm thinking about 2,000 to a maximum of 3,000 euros.

PS: I have already visited Sartoria Rossi. Not too sure about their quality though. I felt as if they were trying to sell me the first suit that came along…

I really love The Armoury's tailoring and you can't go wrong there. That said, the Armoury tuxes were a bit expensive for me personally. Thinking about the cost per wear, I wanted to find something in a *bit* lower price range and so went with No Man Walks Alone x Sartoria Carrara.

fyi, A. Caraceni should be way above 6K now.

I nabbed a 100% silk dinner jacket in solid black. This designer marks "suit" or "jacket" on the tag and this is labeled as a "jacket" not "suit." So it's not an orphan. It's very matte.

I'm wondering what my trouser options are. My first choice is to do classic black formal trousers (wool or a mohair blend). But is this something that works best with a pair of white/off-white trousers? I have some red carpet stuff coming up. The rules of formality are far less stringent (some people will invariably show up in jeans with a pinstriped jacket) but I also don't want to look like I'm clueless. I own two standard tuxedos, a couple fun dinner jackets, but I've never tried a black-on-black combo that didn't come as a pair.

As it's not a wedding or anything I'm ok going near the edge of the line. I'm also wondering about a gray pair of formal trousers for some contrast.
