HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SUIT AND SHOES FOR WEDDING PARTY

So it's been awhile since i attended a wedding and I have outgrown my old suits in size and in style. So I really want to step up my suit game, but don't want to spend a lot ( Not yet at least! ). Someone help a noob look like a million bucks, but spend no more than $200-300 at least.

So far i have a black skinny tie and uniqlo oxfords (light blue and grey). dont know what you can do with these but i'm going to toss them out there in case there's some good ideas to use with these.

wedding will take place from 4:00 pm and will probably be cold.

1. what color combination would be appropriate?

2. and where can i buy a cheap suit? (i will most likely tailor it)

3. AND SHOES SHOES SHOES!!

some fits that i'm feeling:

1.would JGL's fit be suitable?
2.where would be the best place to pick up this fit
3.and what shoes???

go with all black?

Its not clear from the post if you are in the wedding party or just a guest. If you were in the wedding party, did the groom give you some guidelines?

The first picture looks a bit casual for a fancy-ish wedding.

Regarding the GQ pictures, you asked if you should go all-black, but none of the pictures seem to have someone in all black (first one looks navy?). For 2-$300, it is unlikely you will be able to get a suit and decent shoes.

By "oxfords" do you mean shoes or Oxford cloth shirts? Oxford cloth shirts are probably too casual for a wedding as well.

It might help if you gave us more details about how formal this wedding will be.

I think black shoes are appropriate for an evening wedding. I would get something conservative. A cap-toe or plain-toe balmoral would be a good choice. Unfortunately, a decent pair of shoes in this style will eat up almost all of your budget. You could go with something from Florsheim, though I am not sure of the quality:

The first 2 are probably your best options, and would serve well for job interviews, funerals, and other formal occasions.

Charcoal or navy would be your best color options for a suit. You should also get a more formal shirt option for this combination, preferably a white shirt in poplin or twill.

The second pic of the 3 pc is good for a wedding. Those pictures with the H belts are all abominations.

The shoes look tasteful enough, at least at that price, and should be okay with a navy suit (since it's not a job interview or a cocktail party).

Wear a white shirt or light blue shirt. If not particularly formal, a patterned version thereof is optional. Tie choice depends much on formality and personal coloring, though (despite what fashion images might suggest) it almost surely should not be black.

hahaha i did not know that photo was that bad. holy shit

but thanks for the tips mensimageconsultant.

to clarify, the shoes color is the

the british tan calf, NOT THE DARK BROWN.

hopefully that doesn't change anything. i bought it also because i thought it could be versatile for other events.

For those hating on the picture, it has over 5,000 notes on Tumblr. Which tells you a lot of what you need to know about the level of stylistic sophistication on Tumblr. My comments on it a full year ago:

I just showed the picture to my girlfriend and asked her to comment. She basically came up with all the issues it presents, which is quite a lot. I'm not sure if I've taught her too much or these examples are just that bad.
