Feedback on a new suit.

Hello all,

 

Hoping for a critique of this suit (done in HK, with in-person measurements and two fittings). Some issues already apparent to me but would be grateful for objective feedback from the experts.

Have lightened the photos a bit for clarity. It is actually a darker grey (not that it's relevant to the fit, as I understand). Will primarily be for business settings.

Shoulders don't look too wide -- the wrinkling in your tricep area is a sleeve pitch issue (but my guess is that this is not to your 100 percent natural posture and so the pitch issue is not as great in real life). Pitch issues can be fixed by a really good tailor if necessary.

Overall I think this looks pretty darn good. You should really get some better shoes for the suit though. Lace up captoe oxfords perhaps. Once you get the right shoes picked out, you will know if the pants need to be shortened a touch.

+1. jacket/suit looks ok..but kinda plain.

Many thanks for the comments so far. Glad to hear that the suit is outdoing the shoes so far (not a high bar, I know...)
I had also been wondering whether the wrinkling is a shoulder width issue or something that would be better fixed by rotating the sleeves a few degrees clockwise. 
What you see in the photo is actually my natural posture, so would welcome further thoughts on how to rectify.

I'd say your pants are far too long. There shouldn't be any break whatsoever on the back of the leg, and just a slight slight break in the front, if at all.

The front is pretty good, but far from bespoke quality. It's lifeless, no contours or shape.

Aside from the wide shoulder that others members pointed already, those quarters are really closed, something that I'm not fond of. Also, the lower back is tight, resulting in the vents problem; the sleeves needs to be rotated; trousers are too long, even with this unnatural posture, there's a lot of wrinkles everywhere.

The issues are simple and your tailor should be able to fix them.

 

btw: burn those shoes

Balance is off. The jacket is too long in the back and short in the front, causing all sorts of problems - shoulders aren't located where they should (they aren't too wide), the front below the button is flaring and the back is bunching. The whole coat needs to be "rotated".It can be done if your tailor left enough outlet, but will be costly. Trousers seem long as well.

 

It looks like they took your measurements right but didn't care to account for your erect posture.

nobody said it was.

 

jacket is unbalanced, not short. And trousers are long, not short.
