Dr. Christian Troy from Nip Tuck... I like his style

I've recently been catching up on the seasons of Nip Tuck and it seems that Dr. Troy is always wearing suits. I also noticed that I really like the way he dresses and was wondering if anyone had some info.

First, he never wears ties with his suits and what I like about his shirts is that his collars always stay up. Does anyone know how this is achieved? Any time I wear a suit jacket without a ties, my collars fall down unless they have buttons to hold them in place.

Also, does anyone have any idea what kind of suits they use for him in the show or even what kind of shirts?

I just like the way he dresses a lot, except for the more flashy colored shirts he wears and would like any info.

Thanks

His style is pretty bland: solid shirts and solid suits with no ties or pocket squares. Mind you, it works better in Miami than it would anywhere else...

Legend has it, creator Ryan Murphy gave one and only one direction to the costume designers: "no texture".

There was an episode where someone opened his closet and talked about the brands he wore but I don't remember what season it was.

I like how his collars stay up as well.

I think they wanted him to look that way because they wanted to paint how different he was from the other doctor who looks like he lives in Brooks Brothers and epitomizes the other extreme of boredom.

I know in season 3 when they had a search warrant for his apartment, the other Dr. told them not to mess with his shirts that they were $200 each. Other than that, I have not heard them mention anything regarding his wardrobe.

Although I do loath those flashy tinted sunglasses he wear to match his shirt.

He also wears suits without belts. Is this something you can only do in Miami?

I'd say it has more to do with the height of the collar.

I think the whole look is very Miami, but to each his own. I also hate those red-tinted sunglasses he wears, not sure if he still wears them as I didn't see season 4 after season 3 was such a huge dissapointment to me. They brought whole new meaning to 'jumping the shark'.

There is an episode where the other doctor decides to ramp up his style to match Christian Troy.... Goes out and buys some cheesy suits like Gucci or something.

Yes, it was Gucci. The homeless guy outside asked him about it or something.

Actually Paul Suart recommends the beltless suit. they have the adjustable buttons on the side.

Yes, but you don't wear beltless when there are belt loops on the waist!

Yes, all his shirts are either Gucci or Prada. I have a few Gucci shirts and the collars all stay up.

Ryan Murphy was pretty strict on the colors and styles used on the show. No pastels and no jeans.

He made a remark about the only jeans he'd consider would have to be made by Tom Ford.

A lot of Christian's newer style has been Chrome Heart sunglasses.
