Being in the resale business, I come across a lot of vintage clothing in my travels. Be it either in shops or from consignors, Ive seen some pretty cool and unique things.

Sometimes, vintage clothing may not appeal to everyone in their individual tastes, but I happen to find it quite fascinating. I hope you all can post pics of some amazing finds you have come across to create a compendium. It would be most interesting to see what different geographic locations can offer.

Ill start with this one, probably one of the coolest things I have come across (a consignor sent it to me, actually - thrifted it for $5 or less).

A 100% Cashmere Chipp graphic printed (and lined), mother of pearl button laden, complete FU bespoke jacket from 1972. Behold, and I hope to see some of your finds!

Late seventies, early eighties J.Press presented these tweed two pieces. These were supposed to pair with flannels I believe. This is handloomed Irish tweed, made in Ireland, double vented, ticket pocket and English cut, not very much like trad offering of Press.

I thought I'd taken pics of my badass vintage Brooks Brothers (the pre-1970s labels) Chesterfield overcoat. Built like a freaking tank. But I guess not. I shall remedy that. In the meantime, I can see at least two categories of things appropriate for this thread: Total FU stuff like Spoo posted (that's still incredible quality and construction), and more mainstream stuff that evinces incredible construction and quality. Or both, I guess. On the theory that everything is welcome, here are two submissions: 1. 1980s era Anderson & Sheppard cashmere SC. The handwork is indescribably amazing.
2. 1980ish-era BBGF pinstripe suit I have that fits surprisingly well and (cuff buttons aside) still looked killer. I was sad to let this one go, but it went to my brother in law, so I was OK with it. The amazing thing about it was its condition. 30-something years later, the nap was perfect, every seam was tight -- like it just walked off the showroom floor.

OK, so not dress clothing but here is one of my favorite finds thrifting. Amazing how something can be from be hung up or put away for so many years. Circa 60's these were fishing pants complete with suspender buttons, heavy duck cloth and the new Talon 42 zipper. Goofy looking but someone in Japan is wearing them proudly now. Wonder what top they wear with it.

On the theory that everything is welcome

Well, technically yes - but I think I would like to see the direction of this thread more into some rarities, things you dont see every day. The 80s and 90's may be pushing it for vintage (at least, by my definition of where the thread goes) unless its something crazy abnormal, like the Marc Jacobs grunge stuff, or you can always ply me with some vintage Versace. I wont blast your retinas with my archives of that.

Im thinking more the HF suits from the 40s, button boots from the 30s, real original 70s PRL, things like that. Old Levi's big E's, vintage Savile Row bespoke (like you just posted)...

This is my favorite vintage find... I thrifted this deadstock 1960 Pendleton Camp Shirt about two weeks ago for a song.

This thread is brilliant. I cannot believe no one thought of this earlier.

Spoo, given your apparent interest, you never seem to wear any vintage pieces. Any particular reason, or am I off-base?

Best vintage find I've had was three vintage bespoke suits all from the same donor, lined up in a row on the suit rack like they had just been put out.

Quote of my post from 2 years ago:

All three suits are in amazing shape for their age and are from the same donor. No moth holes, fraying, etc. The Huntsman is likely the oldest, dated 1949. One is undated and the other LA tailor is dated 1954. Very heavy weight fabrics. Carrying the three around the store hurt my arm after about 5 minutes. All are the same style and cut. 4 button fronts, flap pocket on the breast pocket. Button fly with the crazy button closure that buttons from the rear and is thus concealed. The style of these trousers are exactly like the Polo RL ones I picked up a few days ago. Another crazy coincidence. I'd never seen this before.

Being that I hadn't visited the store in a couple years, I have no idea how long those have been there, but it couldn't have been long as all were next to each other like they were just put out. Then again, who knows. I'd like to see what else came in from this donation. Nothing else to speak of in the store (overcoats, ties, shirts, trousers.....). This made my day, not to mention boosted my mood ten-fold when I knew I had made a SF Grail Find!

I apologize in advance for the awful photos. These were taken before I had gotten my new camera.

1) My only bespoke Savile Row find to this date. Huntsman from 1949
