A few things I posted in the other forum but haven't got around to doing here until now.

So, I've been collecting knitwear for the fall.
Untagged but from colour, design and the little pristine button of unvarnished leather I'm thinking 1940's - 1950s.

This is 1950s Hudson's Bay Company ribbed knit v-neck. Vaguely military in style and colour. Made in England. It has a pre-1964 Hudson's Bay Company label.

1960s Hudson's Bay point blanket hippie poncho. Not a home ec project. I've only seen one other one before and mine is nicer. The only thing better would be one in the classic cream with coloured stripes.

1960s varsity sweater (a letterman sweater without the letter).

1970s satin western shirt.

PRL safari shirt-sleeved shacket. Made in USA, tagged L but fits much larger.
I was reading a John D. MacDonald Travis McGee novel (written in '78) last night and one of the characters was wearing something similar.

Cross-posted to Thrifting thread, where I mostly hang out.

My wife's friend sent this on to me. The first half is some guying getting a bespoke suit made but the second half (at about the 25 min mark) is an old Jewish cutter from NYC and his time in the trade before and after WWII, mostly serving entertainers. Really fascinating. MTM suits were $21.50 and then charges went up from there for extras (pick stitching, silk thread button holes, etc).

The episode is called Men of the Cloth.
