you would need to mark the value down to below the level where duties kick in. this is different for different countries and usually different if the item is a personal gift or a commercial sale.

please note if the senders address is a business one customs will always consider the goods commercial even if you mark the package as gift.

the €45 fee would include a handling charge which could be as much as half that fee.

I would suggest marking the value down to no more than $20 and mark the package as gift.

my impression is customs is tightening up in the UK.

No they were correctly charged as labelled, it's just that I've been ordering bonsai and camera equipment from Japan for years and I don't recall ever having a package picked up by customs even when above the limit, but all recent packages have been picked up. They've certainly tightened up on US/Canada packages over the past few years - it used to be about 1 in 4 chargeable packages would slip through, now none do.

Why don't we go after the corproations who are getting away with millions in avoiding corporation taxes here. The Amazons and the Starbucks.

wouldnt it look suspicious if you mark it at 10 euros and shipping costs >10 euros?

Can anyone comment on what I should expect to get with on a $500 order from dope factory?

I haven't read this whole thread so forgive me if this has already been answered.

I didn't used to get so frequently on packages from Europe to the US. Maybe at most 1 in 5 packages would get dinged with duty / import fees.  But it seems that myself and everyone else I work with are getting hit on every single package from europe these days. Shoes, jackets, etc.

Is it possible that an address could be flagged at customs because they think we're importing for commercial reasons? (We do order a lot of clothes and snekers to this office)

Or did something happen recently where they are now a lot more strict about what they are letting in?

I've actually been finding the same thing recently. I never used to get hit with customs fees and lately, with my last 3 international orders, they've all been hit. 2 UPS and one Fed Ex. The one weird one to me, is I just got a bill from Fed Ex for $48 for an order I placed with END clothing that only totaled $210! I don't even see how this adds up to be honest. I mean, 25% for a customs fee?

Any idea what sort of customs fees (if any) I should expect from a ~$600 order from the MMM e-boutique?

Anyone purchased from Hypebeast store? Did you get hit?

Hi guys, first time posting in this thread.  I want to ship some shoes from Taiwan to my friend's office in NY.  The shipping is Global Shipping EMS.  I want to make sure the package gets there okay.  Am I able to call up USPS with the tracking number and pay for any taxes/duties before the item is delivered?

Anyone in the US order from Understudy? Just wondering if you can expect to be hit by fees. Thanks!

you should be good if you have them send Canadian post. They accidentally sent my order ups and I got a 30 dollar brokerage fee, but they took care of it for me. Stand up guys.
