Living in S.Korea for a short period of time. I'm wondering, which online stores can I shop at without getting hit with major duties.

It depends where you're ordering from - it's rare USPS get through customs, ditto Canadian orders. Australia 50% of the time. Japanese orders very rarely get caught.

Isn't there a certain limit for the customs?

Why don't parcels from Japanese get caught?

Any purchases below £15 are exempt for VAT £36 for gifts. Once you get over £135 you've got customs duty on top of VAT.

I'm sure parcels from Japan do sometimes get caught, but I've yet to have one stopped where it's gone through their national mail service. I suspect there's just more focus on parcels coming in from the US/Canada as that's where the majority of people buy from. Where stores use private couriers rather than national mail services parcels are pretty much always caught.

Been debating ordering a Buzz Rickson peacoat through Rakuten for 52,920 Yen, shipped through EMS to USA. Any idea what the chances are I'll get hit with customs and, if so, how much?

My RMC M65 was over 100

I don't have the answer to your question, but are you buying direct from Orslow? I didn't know they did that.

From Rakuten? Uggggh. Might be better to just wait until History Preservation gets a restock next fall.

Bought last year, all my previous orders Rakutan, Speedway etc were duty free, just lucky ??? Dont know. Just factor it in now. JPY vs USD + duties.

Tough to say....

Direct from History Preservation in USA it'd run me: $500 + $45 shipping = $545 USD

Imported from Rakuten it'd be: $450 + ~$30 shipping + customs? = $480-580.

Got the "Black Overdyed" but I agree, if I can get in the States I now get it here. Some things like FreeWheelers etc. I just have to deal with it.

Was never getting hit with duties till 2014, was great. USD is still beating JPY, EURO, CAD etc.
