Sizing Question: EG has their Trail parka listed with around a 23.5 inch p2p measurement in Large...

If I have a chest of about 40-41 inches, would a large be a decent fit for me? Do people who wear M in EG size up for Parkas? I know Parkas are supposed to fit big and all. Never worn an EG piece before. Thanks guys.

stick with your true size, dont size up. but yes parkas do fit bigger.

FYI

Hey Guys and Gals,

I will be away in Italy for 12 days starting today and Steven will be holding down the fort. I will have limited email access so pose all questions to him. Steven can be reached by email at sreyes@drinkwaterscambridge.com and he will be available here as well for PM . When I have the opportunity, I will check in for restaurant suggestions, unusual places to visit and great stores see while in Rome, Florence and Venice.

Decided recently to take my first foray into EG and picked up the reverse sateen fatigue pants. I heard they were thin but I had no clue how bad they would really be. After one week, one of the side buttons ripped through the fabric. Disappointing, but fixable.

The coup de grace came, with just a little over a week of ownership, when I sat awkwardly on a chair and completely ripped the fabric by the back pocket.

Pity because I really do love their stuff, but with fabric selections like this, I don't know how they call really their garments "engineered". I picked them up from Independence in Chicago. Any recommendations on what I should do?

I'm wondering about this as well. Here's three Navy cotton jackets from this season:

Andover in Calvary Twill
Baker in Broken Twill
Bedford in Cotton Pique

Has anyone had the opportunity to experience all three? Or two? I'm curious about the fabrics specifically, not so much the fit, though that input could be helpful too.

for those of you with the workshirts what do you do when the sleeves shrink down to the short length if you know what i mean? i've tried pulling on it its still not back to the original incredibly long length which was fine with me.
Never really noticed much shrinking in the sleeves, or at all really, with the workshirts. Most of mine are chambray but I have poplin, sheeting, flannel, etc as well and haven't had any issues with shrinking.

abdaniel - that is crazy! I would show them to the guys at Independence and see what they say, maybe they can contact EG for you and get something done. That is pretty disappointing, but I will say it's also incredibly rare in my experience with EG so don't judge the whole line based on that. I have a lot of EG and have had zero quality issues like that. I do have one pair of cotton twill shorts that have a waist tab button that is pulled out, but I bought them used like that so who knows what happened to them. They have obviously had lots and lots of wear when I got them and I wear them all the time in the summer and they've been continuing to hold up fine even still.

i'm not imagining things when i got the blue chambray workshirt and the heavy vintage flannel grey ones the sleeves where incredibly long. now almost a year later sleeve on shirt makes it look like i'm wearing a boys shirt. meaning sleeves are really short the cuff on them ends like 2 inches from my hand.

the length has shrunk a lot too before it used to cover my stomach now any movement at all your going to see some belly peepwall[1].gif

Do you machine dry it or wash it in hot water?

I always wash cold and hang dry, never seen any noticeable shrinkage on any of mine (I have a dozen or so). I can't imagine what would cause a shirt to go from having really long sleeves to being 2" shy of your hand...never seen a shirt shrink that much in my life.

Wish I could shrink some length out of my SS12 blue chambray, that thing is way long in body and sleeves.

hand wash and hang dry. any piece of clothing that i truly love and want to get the most of it i treat it with care. i always read the instructions on the tags too. which is why it makes me sad that they shrunk that much i've been waiting for the restock on the vintage flannel grey to purchase it again the blue one i'm not worried about its year round.

Abdaniel- total bummer! But I'll reiterate what slide13 says about not judging the whole line based on this experience. I've been buying EG for 6 or 7 years, and generally the stuff holds up great...

I would definitely reach out to EG, either through Independence or via the NepenthesNY shop, they are usually VERY attentive to their customers.
