Sebastien Grey - feedback wanted

Sebastien Grey - a purported "bespoke" shop in Chicago and NYC are having a year end special 2 suits made for $564 per.  While I am sure these are really MTM or "custom" and not in fact bespoke, some of the quality on the website looks pretty good and the price is tantalizing.  I am looking for people who have experience buying suits with them, pics a plus!

Thanks

The site is here http://sebastiengrey.com/

Chinese MTM with Chinese fabric i would guess half canvas no hand work.
but if they get the fit right, you
have suits that fit.

Thanks - have you used them?  The website details a lot of hand finishing?

I am a custom shirtmaker based in new york, making shirts in NYC and New jersey.
My suits are made by Mr. Ned in NYC and pants from Hertling trouser in Brooklyn.
Buy American is my motto.

At that low price any hand work would be very minimal, if any.
but i could be wrong...
Fit will depend on if you are measured by someone who has some experience or has been working there for a month!

I actually use them here in Chicago for my suits and shirts and love them (and yes, they are definitely MTM). I'm guessing that price you saw is for a half-canvas, though they do offer a full-canvas, handmade suit, which I have always done through them.

The Sebastien Grey guy I work with in the Chicago Loop shop said that they do use tailors in NYC for their suits, but their price starts somewhere around $2500 (and that's just for a basic, no-name mill fabric). For that price I've gotten both a fully-canvased Scabal suit and a Holland & Sherry one that were both made in China and they've been great.

FWIW, all my shirts from them have a Made in the USA tag on them. I do like that they offer both made abroad and made in the US though. I wish I could afford the Made in the US suits, but I just can't right now. I'd like to support those guys whenever I can.

Shirtmaven is right though. It will depend on who is doing the fitting. The guy I work with in Chicago has been doing it a while and knows his stuff, but I've seen horror stories. I went to both Suit Supply and Indochino when they blew through here this past August and was horrified at the kind of suit they were going to potentially make for me. Shoulders too narrow, chest too small, closed quarters; you definitely pay for what you get with those guys. But that's how I came across Sebastien Grey and I've stuck with them ever since.

There was one other dude on SF who went to go see them in NYC and had a good experience (I think). Can't recall who though, I'll have to check. Can't speak for NYC, but I like the Chicago location. Hope this helps.

I have also had really good experiences with Sebastien Grey, at the office here in NYC. They actually just changed to a new office down in flatiron, which is a lot nicer than the old one. I bought my first suit using the gilt voucher, and it was great. Ended up getting a second, and actually pulled the trigger on the end of year deal for two more. I have only worked with one salesperson thus far, but she has been great, and fit was pretty much spot on. And then reordering has obviously been simple and results have been consistent.

As for quality, they are good. For the price, probably one of the best values you can find. The gilt deal for less than $600 actually includes full canvas construction. As mentioned previously, the suits I have received thus far have been made in china, so there is that. But as I said, all in all, I have had a good experience with them. BTW, I have tried two other custom suit places that have offered deals, and Sebastien Grey is by far the best of them.

Do you mind providing the name of the sales guy/representative you have used in Chicago? Would like to pick up their recent MTM deal and want to make sure I work with someone knowledgeable.

I would also like to get the name of who you worked with in Chicago. Thanks!
