velvet blazer during the day

I'm going to meet my sister and nephew at a museum tomorrow and then head to a rehearsal dinner. I want to wear a chocolate velvet blazer but I won't be going home in between the the museum and dinner. Is it a major crime against humanity to wear the blazer to the museum during the day?

So, the consensus is that I will be laughed out of the Museum of Science and Industry and/or my 18 month old nephew will continuously say "nice jacket" in a sarcastic tone?

If you're OCD, the museum should have a coat check where you can leave the jacket while you're there. Personally I'd just wear the thing.
