Star Trek into Darkness (2013) - Page 5

FLMountain was right, the fleet was destroyed by Nero in the beginning of the last movie, they were pretty clear mentioning that.

But it doesn't matter, because by the end of the flick, when Spock was captain, he mentioned he wanted to meet back up with the rest of the fleet. So the continuity was broken before this.

I don't think they sent the ENTIRETY of Star Fleet in the first movie... It's been a while since I've watched it though.

I could just be making shit up in my head thinking it's real....happens sometimes.

Yeah, I haven't watched it in a while but IIRC they make a point of saying that the majority of their fleet was off engaged somewhere else and that's why they had to grab a bunch of the cadets to help crew the few ships they had around earth... And the fight between kirk/spock later in the movie is over whether they should pursue or go re-group w/ the rest of the fleet. They only lost like 5-6 ships, it's the klingons that lost like 30 or 50 ships.

Looking more and more like my theory is correct.

It wasn't the whole fleet, but honestly this is a bullshit argument to engage in. Who cares? It's a movie. What happened to people enjoying films for what they are instead of nitpicking the details looking for any "plot holes" they can find in hopes of scoring e-bro points?

It's really annoying and seems to be getting worse. Film Critic Hulk wrote a fantastic essay on the trend that I have been meaning to post. Maybe ill get to that later today.

Let's cut to the chase. We're all guilty of it. Also, if we cut that out, these movie threads would all be two pages, tops.

That said, I loved the "new" Star Trek movie and look forward to this one.

The grander point being made here has little to do with criticizing things I personally like, FLM. It's about acknowledging that film making can be a sloppy art form. Even some of it's greatest works are guilty of what we would call "plot holes" yet that doesn't take away from their status in our hearts and minds. It's this overly anal nitpicking you see across many internet forums that I am calling out. Sometimes you just need to sit back and enjoy the fantasy and not get hung up on things that might have been overlooked in development process.

I'm not singling you out here and just used your orignal post as a means to make a point.

No bites on this?

Looks a lot like a room full of cryo pods and the back of a muscular man with a ponytail. I'd put money down that's Khan and the other man is Harrison. nod[1].gif

Cabbagepatch said Harrison is a terrorist....perhaps releasing Khan is him setting off his "bomb".

My guess is in this reality Khan's ship is found years earlier. Either Khan is killed, captured or goes into hiding. Harrison's vengeance is related to these events.

I'd much prefer to see Harrison as the villain for this film, but still able to "win" by dropping his big load by....releasing Khan from stasis as a villain for future films. That would make me cream my jeans.
