Been seeing a lot more BOO gear at Barneys. This season has some really cool stuff....the usual slim shirts and ties of course. Among the new shirts, they have a 50s style shirt-jac in red gingham that gives me a stiffy, but the $275 pricetag makes me go limp. At some point I think I owned about 20 vintage ones that I never paid more than $30 for, but BOO's version is very authentic and well cut

Their suits are pretty awesome. It's nearly the same cut as Thom Browne (or for that matter my own Thick as Thieves) and wearing a jacket felt just like one of my own. High armholes, really close fitted body, short jacket length. The sleeves are basted with the buttons in a bag so you can have functional cuffs put in on your own. Mostly 2 button styles, I think there was a 3 button too. Full canvassed and made by Martin Greenfield. The price isn't cheap, $1675 (not sure if it was for just the jacket or for a suit, probably just the jacket) Their suit sleeves are REALLY slim. I've never seen a jacket sleeve this skinny, I think it measured about 4" across at the opening. I fit into it, but if you have any muscle bulk, there's no way you're getting into one of these jackets.

Some cool sweaters too....nothing mindblowing but simple and nice. Made of cashmere and the pricetag reflects it.

Their line is expanding and the results look great.

I agree, they are slowly expanding their line and keeping the distribution small unlike rag & bone. I have a red madras short sleeve linen popover and light blue batiste washed cotton shirt that is ridiculously soft. There are also a couple of other things I've got my eye on so I'm pretty satisfied with their line at the moment.

Perhaps this is the suit you're speaking of?

It looks very nice. That's the same color I want to get my next suit in from you, Jason.

yep they had that suit (at least it looks like it with the white buttons), the fabric is actually quite thick which is nice. they also had other ones in various greys a la Thom Browne....and I actually thought of BOO as the "poor(rich) man's TB" (if you consider $275 shirts and $1700 jackets to be poor)

One day, I'd like to be that poor.

Considering that my toilet paper is actually a roll of Benjamin's stitched together by the oldest artisan alive in Italy. I employ them to stitch the bills together until they die, then the next oldest takes up the job.

I think I can handle $1700 for a jacket (not).

I prefer the work of English artisans for my toilet paper stitching (they goodyear welt the top ply to the bottom ply)

I'm going to move production to China, so I can afford Thom Browne instead of BOO.

I believe BOO started out making ties that were recut from vintage ties. Are they still doing that and keep up with demand? It would've been cool if they stuck with that idea and made their shirts out of recut shirts, too.

Our artisans are able to live much longer, thanks to Chinese herbal medicine, tai chi and the grace of Guan Yin.

I tried on some BoO shirts the other week. I was not impressed. The paradigmatic example for me was this blue oxford cloth buttondown one. It looked and felt like a regular old oxford cloth that had been run through the washer a few times, line dried, and left unironed. The shirt barely fit me in an XL - and I'm 5'10", 145#. The tail was short in the extreme and probably would not be suitable for tucking in.

Maybe it's because I'm a card carrying member of the Ask Andy crowd, but whenever I see these hip streetwear vendors and denim companies trying to do classic clothing, I always shudder. The quality is never up to par for the price. (Fused Rag and Bone hand made sport jackets "Hand made in New York" for well over $1000 being another example).

Thats odd, I am 5'11 and 170 pounds and the medium fits me better than any other shirt I own.

Yeah, that's actually the main reason i own ten of their button downs and a handful of polos.. They actually fit me.
I absolutely love how short all their shirts are, no need for me to get them shortened after i get one.
I'm loving their chambray like baby blue button down from the new spring line..

I'll third the 'best fitting shirt I own' sentiment, at 5"11, 185 with a large...

The shirts are cut short with the intent of being untucked, as far as I know. (instead of looking sloppy like wearing a real dress shirt untucked, hanging past your ass)
