Dear Folks:

Just acquired a large collection of neck ties from the fifties, all in excellent taste and from conservative haberdasheries from Connecticut to Australia (Cutter of Bligh Street). Other labels include Salisbury Shop in Connecticut, Chipp, Press, BB and Berg-Holzman in the US, and Lewin, Hillhouse, T&A, and Washington Tremlett in London. One haberdasher, though, has the nicest printed silks and this is Brettell of Royal Arcade. Here is one label:

Internet info states a founding date of 1880, and the tie is probably from the fifties. Did anyone have any experience with this haberdasher?

How did you get all of these ties?

Tremlett, eh? He allegedly invented the modern necktie. You can put that in your auction. But I'd like to see a pic of the tie.

Here is the Tremlett tie.

I love English silk.

The blade of this one is 2.6 wide.

I am keeping it for myself.
