RLPL - Footwear- How to recognize false listings?

Several times I have questioned sellers on Ebay listing RLPL footwear that just didn't seem "kosher" to me. Since I am not the best at recognizing "treif" from the rabbinically blessed, do you sartorial mavens know how to discern what shoes are truly RLPL? Thanks much.

I come across multiple items a week. I believe I read that just because the shoes come in a purple box, that doesn't mean they're RLPL. Sellers advertise footwear as RLPL and market the pair as having a list price of $425.00. That seems disconcertingly low to me. I have brought this to several "Seller's" attention, and they blow me off with, "look at the box color buddy," or "it has a silver "Ralph Lauren signature." These responses just "shake my tree" as I can't stand reprehensible and dishonest merchants that do business on EBay. Thanks though
