In search of a reply someone left about The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, VA

I vaguely remember that a member was travelling to or through Richmond and someone replied about The Jefferson Hotel.  In the reply was a comment I would like find.  I have searched on "The Jefferson", but have had no luck.  I'm not even sure it was in this forum.

 

Please help...

I love the Jefferson. Until recently I used to stay there at least once a year.

I just posted about how part of the appeal of the Jefferson is that it (along with the Commonwealth Club) represents a type of Old South that's pretty much dead... it's kind of surreal to know you're standing in a place that 75 years ago wouldn't have allowed anyone who was black to come in the front door.

Richmond is just a strange city for a lot of reasons - full of odd contrasts.

That's virtually every place in the South. And try 45 years ago, at least in Texas.

My middle school (in Virginia) was the black high school up until some time in the 1970s. There's a plaque somewhere about it, kind of uncomfortable really.
