I really like the IDea of local shit. I think to an extent local clothing could be factored in. From all the NY peeps I would be expecting eg and needles!

Since people seem to be interested in local stuff which might involve food of some sort, I think it would be a good idea if we mention any of our allergies or dietary restrictions.

I'm in Philadelphia. Kind of a smlarge, clothing wise:

40" chest
30" waist
12D shoes (sometimes more like 11.5)

I need to ruminate on the best local-type stuff in the area, since it's probably fairly difficult to ship an Italian roast pork hoagie with broccoli rabe, sharp provolone, and long hots. Or a banh mi, for that matter, since the bread would no longer be fresh by the time it arrived at its destination.

Quoting this for emphasis. If we find something that works in size and style (and relative budgets) that would rad. But I think we'd all rather source and receive something cool and unusual that's connected to your spot.

If you have a specific set of things you want, you should just go out and find a way to buy them yourself.  It sounds like you're setting yourself up for disappointment with these requests and expectations.  Not at all the spirit of a Secret Santa type event.

 

Yes I realize making a post saying "I don't want clothing" will help the partner in coming up with a package, but I'm trying to say that overall attitude towards this that some people seem to be taking is a bit weird.

you have a lot of input for someone who hasn't joined yet... The overall consensus is leaning towards a 'local specialty swap' why does it have to be identical to the SUFU one?
