Are these Brooks Brothers Perforated Captoes made by Alden ?

That's what customer service wrote me. "The captoe is made by Alden and unfortunately we are unable to provide the last. They are true
to size and am told very comfortable."

I am suspicious because of the price ($368) and that they look (to me) like the Allen Edmonds Fifth Avenue.

If they are Aldens, I would hope they would be included in either the pre- or post-Xmas sale.

Guidance would be appreciated!

I don't believe this is true any longer. I think, as of a few months ago, AE will recraft BB shoes.

When a customer service rep' tells me something like that, my bs detector goes off. That person's probably operating on little to no knowledge about the product and just repeats a few things that he/she's heard.

 

I agree with what the other gent's have said. I think that AE makes a line for BB and for JAB. Is $365 the usual price for BB? The AE line at JAB is $335....brand premium? That's a lot of acronyms.

The BB versions have topys and a poron insoles pre-installed (on some models, at least). This is probably what accounts for the extra cost.

I think the BB pricing takes into account the fact that they offer 25% off sales every month.

msulinski is correct. I bought a pair in black when BB started to carry them.

I doubt that that's the reason. I haven't been to JAB in years, but the last time that I checked, they had a membership card that took 20% off of the price of non-sale items (including AE shoes).
