Anyone else do/or have tried this?

There was a member here who had a penchant for doing this with his Panta ties, he is missed.

Sorry, it was just a thing we did at Skl (me and mates) and it was hated but we continued it after leaving!

What did you do with the fat end, then? Oh, and the gent I spoke of earlier wore the thin blade on top of the thick blade, so perhaps he created a whole new style!

YTuck the broad/proper part in your shirt, as long as it's not lower down than the thin part.
