When you dont ahve a blazer to wear to a wedding

+1 (minus the harshness...though I'm sure it's just tough love).

The fact that you don't need to often wear suits is not a good reason not to own a good suit. For you, suit wearing is a low probability high yield event. Though you won't have to wear them often, the times that you do will be important. Buy a decent suit. No Express/Zara/H&M type stuff.

Dressing as you described would be somewhat disrespectful for a traditional wedding (or really anything but the most casual affair...and even then it doesn't seem like it would look good aesthetically). Here are my suggestions, the best to the bare minimum

a) Buy a suit. Charcoal (black is less versatile)

b) Buy a nice blazer (navy)

c) Buy a nice cardigan

d) Don't wear the black or the red shirt. White or blue.

And for all the above, lose the belt. It sounds very tacky

Hmmm...first thing first. I have only one word to say regarding the black shirt: Waiter! Invest in a nice navy blazer as it's the most versatile piece of clothing you will ever own. Other than that listen to Claghorn's advice and start building a respectable wardrobe.

And about the Gucci belt...please don't be THAT guy with the tacky belt. Get rid!!

Hit a thrift store and see if you can find something good. Do you live in a big city? 

Get a white button up shirt and look for a coat/suit.

If that isn't an option and cost is an issue hit up American Apparel and get a white Oxford Cloth Button Down shirt and maybe a Cardigan or V-neck sweater like people already said.

Obviously the best choice is to invest in a coat or suit but I think if you can look decent most people won't notice like people on these boards will.

There are things that only an SFer would pick up on. Being the only person at a wedding without a jacket isn't one of them.

lol...Are you the guy who got shxtted on for posting pics of that military jacket? If you're unwilling to shop for the occasion, then your options are limited. You're the only one who knows what's in your closet...no sense in asking us what you should wear.
