eBay Seller Sent Me Totally Messed Up Alden's!

Hoping Man of Lint / other shoe experts can help me solve this mystery.



I ordered a pair of "first quality" Alden loafers of the Bay. Color was supposed to be "cognac."

Got them today, but each shoe is a different shade of light brown. What could have caused this discoloration?

I don't see anything wrong with the heels. The discoloration is caused by one of the shoes being a display and exposed to more UV lights than the other. the discoloration is a pain to correct. They should provide you a refund.

Thanks Rebel.

My other theory was that some sort of renovator or polish stripper was applied. On the lighter shoe, the dark stains around the tassel look like they could be the residue leftover from the polish?

Lol clever seller even reversed the shoes in the photo to make that less noticeable.

Heels are honestly not a huge deal. All of the AE seconds I've seen had have had uneven heels like the ones in my picture.

Two tone shoes on the other hand ffffuuuu.gif

I agree with Rebel on the UC exposure. Probably a store display pair. I have a question...did the seller fairly state that there were defects of any kind? Do you still have the Ebay link? Also, Spoo and others will have better advice where to take it from here if you are considering return.

No defects reported ^

Seller said he bought a "couple hundred" of these from a closed store, and didnt have time to inspect everyone.

I never denied this and will probably do that now that I have a better sense it was UV damage

I wanted to see if I could strip the polish off the darker shoe and start over with some darker Saphir pomandier etc

I've tried to get shoes with UV mismatch issues back to normal. I have a fair amount of experience with dyeing shoes, and outside of completely dyeing them a new color, it doesn't work.
