Today I was dressing great but I was asked 2 times not one but TWO times if I worked at walmart.

Today I had biege incotex chinos and a riviera dark blue sunspel polo shirt. I almost never go to walmart since my wife does all of the shopping. I had no idea beige chinos and a dark blue polo was the walmart uniform.

 

My question is how do I pull the chinos and polo look without looking like a walmart worker? In other words I don't want to look like I dress cheap.

From what I've seen on the internet the people who shop at Wal-Mart generally wear sweatpants and pajama jeans. Anything you wear that isn't stained, ripped, made of polyester fleece, or designed for a woman twice your size will make people think you work there.

Your question states you still want to wear a polo and chinos. If that's the case, the only answer would be just wear different colors. Or perhaps untuck the polo. I don't think the employees untuck the uniform polo.

Don't wear a red one, or you will look like you work at Target. There may be other uniform color combinations you don't know about, but I suppose you'll find out when you go into one of the stores.

It would probably help your cause if you took off the name tag and stopped rearranging the Tide on the shelf.
