Info on a waistcoat

Came across this photo of a Brioni suit and was interested in the waistcoat. Is this simply a double-breasted waistcoat with a low cut? I don't recall having seen something similar before. Is this considered fairly classic or appropriate for business? Can't tell if there are any sort of lapel on the waistcoast (e.g., shawl).

Looking to get a new mid-gray 3 piece. Thoughts on seeing if i can commission this sort of waistcoat with it? Wondering if it is more of something that cycles in and out of fashion and would be advised against.

DB waistcoats with points are very rare these days. It has been more common (though I don't think it was ever the most common) in eras when waistcoats in general existed in greater variety than today. Even then, I'd suggest it would usually go with a slightly higher crossover point and more of a keystone arrangement of the buttons. I'm not really a fan of the style as it is in the pic (and this comes from someone who does own a couple of bespoke DB waistcoats).

Someone like Sator would know a hell of a lot more about historical styles than me though. I barely have a smattering of knowledge. Is it business-appropriate? Only you can judge that, based on your personal work environment. It is unusual and quite noticeably striking though, if that's any guide. Then again, most waistcoats are rare these days (though perhaps less so than they would have been in the 90s or early 00s, given a slight resurgence over the past 5-10 years).

Thanks. I suppose if i were to commission a similar waistcoat, I wouldn't wear it to important business meetings, but perhaps just wear it around the office every so often for the hell of it. I guess i would be wearing the entire 3-piece for weddings, evening events or nights on the town.
