Fair enough. But a Honda Fit would be a great choice. For cheap little breadvans they're actually quite a hoot to drive...

The only kei cars I've seen that are remotely in the same appearance league as the Smart Roadster are the Dihatsu Copen and the Suzuki Cappucino. (The little Mazda AZ550 or whatever the toy Group C car was kind of neat, too, I guess.) The others just look...well...Japanese. And I do mean that as an epithet.

I actually almost bought a Cappy when I lived in Germany, but I couldn't fit in it and there was way too much rust for comfort. Suzuki copied the Spridget formula a little too well with that one. The four-piece hardtop was cool as hell, though.
