Seems like it....

last fall/winter they had 2 really cool cardigans (picked up one of them)

and we wandered into one yesterday and I was surprised there were a few items I actually liked (some nice thin 2.5" ties, a pretty cool patterned white dress shirt that was actually fitted and slim, a plaid harrington jacket, etc) Looks like they dropped their dodgy FC logo off a lof of items too.

much better than anything BR or JCrew are offering, at the same retail pricepoint

I'm glad you posted this, there is one about two blocks from where I work and I have always passed by but never stopped in, the branding always put me off. It seems to be on par with Club Monaco from what I've seen in the store windows. I'll definately stop in this week sometime and check it out.

ever since they got rid of the FCUK moniker, it's gotten better

my favorite shirt ever from them was:

The FCUK Inn
Liquor in the front.
Poker in the rear.

there was a massive push by some christian coalition and parent's rights groups in the USA to boycott stores that carried FCUK

i've forgotten all the details as it was a year or two ago but it was felt the cheekiness was inappropriate and devalued morals or something like that and as such, chains like macy's etc. pulled it off their shelves rather than risk being boycotted and losing sales

the company dropped FCUK, which had likely been played out by then anyway, and reverted back to simply 'french connection', although i think you can still find FCUK branded stuff (i still see FCUK toilettries in the UK, for example), it's just not as much in your face anymore

mmm well they had some craapy fake selvege ( was a normal folded seam with a piece of selvege stuck on the bottom 2 inches) jeans last time i went in. Most of the time the quality hasn't seemed any better than cheaper places but i'll look again

Dude, that joke was played out on Big Johnson t-shirts like 15 years ago.

OTOH, thrifted Big Johnson shirts could be primed for a major comeback...

I'm pretty sure stores still carry the plain white/black tees with "fcuk in xxxxx" if you really loved the fcuk theme

That's sounds like the most fratboyish slogan shirt ever. Too bad I heard that joke ages ago. Anyway, back to GS's post... I never thought to look at FCs stuff... mostly because of the FCUK stuff. Maybe I should take a look, though I find it to be overpriced here. PS, more cardigans? I thought you pledged not to buy anything this year because you were saving up for GS's Eurotrip 2007?

I think you made a resolution last year as well for some reason... (forget at the mo).

I guess resolutions are more like guidelines than strict rules. It's ok man, rules are made to be broken

I havent even gone into the Paul Smith store all year, which in itself is a feat for me. (tho i did go into it in NYC but didnt buy anything)

my biggest rule break was getting the Jean Shops. I had vowed to only buy the SFx5EP jeans in 07 but after trying on JS I was mad sold
