Question about ironing wool pants

This seems like a really simple question, and I've tried using the search function and was not able to find anything.

 

Will ironing wool suit pants that have a lining damage the lining at all?

Lined wool trousers? That seems a bit strange.

 

Anyhow, I suppose it depends what the lining is. If it's a synthetic, tread carefully (low heat!). However, I have ironed wool with silk lining before and have had no problems (obviously iron the wool side, not the silk side.)

If you've damaged the lining the wool is almost certainly burned.

Ironing without a press cloth and I bet you're at high risk of shining the wool.

That's a strange comment lining in wool trousers is quite normal - there again I see that you only have three posts and may well be unaware of such things if you buy cheaper garments.

You will only damage the lining after you have burned the wool so there is no risk whatever. Use an ironing cloth to avoid shine etc.

Probably a new user from Reddit.

 

OP: key is press, not iron.  Take your iron, put it over a felt/ironing cloth, and PRESS.  Try not use the ironing motion that's used on shirts.  Press and move only very slightly back and forth.

 

There should be couple videos on youtube that demos this.
