Winter Boots - Which Ones?

I'm looking to buy some winter boots and Sorel caught my eye. I was wondering if anyone had experience with them? People seem to like them (even if their newer ones made in China ones are not as good as the older made in Canada ones).

I was looking at the following:

1. 1964 PAC - full grain leather, felt liner, treats are zigzags (different than the Caribou)

2. Caribou Wool - full grain leather, 100% wool felt liner

The zappos site considers all four the same, but Sorel has the two non-shiny colors as a different product and with 60% wool 40% cotton felt liner:

3. Caribou - nubuck leather, felt liner

I guess one decision would be nubuck vs full grain. I'm leaning towards full grain... as I can condition those and they'll likely last longer and stay waterproof.

Then there is the difference between the lighter / pebbled leather and the heavier full grain leather. What do you guys think there?

Lastly, if I were to decide on the heavier leather (Caribou Wool) - there are two versions. It looks to me like the liner, coloring, and look of the leather is really the only difference?



And i'm open to suggestions to other similar looking and useable boots. I also looked into Baffin and they have this boot that looks nice: http://www.baffin.com/product-p/reacm004.htm. But not as much review on that one.

I like the style of leather top and rubber bottom, so looking for thatt with some (preferrably removable) insulation.

Those are nice. And the made in Canada really seals it for me because I was worried about those issues you mention with the Sorels. Thank you for that suggestion!

I think I'll get the Kamiks. The Roots one are the same I suppose, but not a fan of the logo. Although I knew it sounded familiar and then I remembered that I carry this keychain with my fairly often:



And it's held up incredibly well. Not that it's the same company as Kamik, but I do hope these boots hold up well too.
