The season starts up today. It's time to decide whether learning new names at Kentucky is worth the effort for one year, whether the Pac 12 will be a multi-bid league, and whether Michigan State's cool idea for a game will actually pay off with a win (I think this is finally the year).

My homer status tells me that Michigan State will come together at the end for another Final Four run alongside Kentucky, Kansas and Louisville. I still don't get why Swopshire left Louisville for Northwestern for his 5th year free transfer.

Michigan State and Kansas are approaching a nail biting finish. Good game so far.

YES!!! Go Sparty!

:nodding: I'm happy to see them finally win a big non-conference game. They always seem to get embarrassed in the non-conference. Gary Harris is a stud.

If Indiana beats UNC, Mich beats NC State at Ann Arbor, and OSU upsets Duke at Cameron Indoor, Big 10 will be 1, 2 and 3 in the polls next week, has that ever happend for the Big 10? or any conference for that matter? not that it means much but it is pretty cool.

Good basketball being played tonight. Looking forward to the IU/UNC match-up later tonight; meanwhile enjoying the Michigan/NC State game. Big Ten looking good this year.

Either UNC is pretty damn crappy or IU is pretty damn good.

UNC will be fine, they are a bunch of freshmen finding their way. McAdoo is a fine player. IU is awesome too, I have never seen a college team pass the way they do. But sending young kids in to play that team in their place, the result is not that surprising.

Depends on what you mean by "fine". UNC has lost to both of the good-ish teams they've faced so far... they're just not that good this year, I mean I'm sure they'll still make the tournament, but I don't think they'll get very far once there. Same goes for Kentucky, this years frosh classes is not last years, curious to see how far they drop in the next poll after the losses to ND and Baylor.

Also lol at the MSU talk. Final four? You mean final four of the big ten tourney, right? I have a hard time seeing a team that's maybe the 4th best team in its own conference making the final four, even if that conference is the best in the country. IU, Mich, and OSU are all better than MSU (and Minn & IL have looked good too). I mean MSU has a pretty decent team this year but they could easily end up in the middle of the big ten.

By fine I mean longer term, big picture, best thing about Freshmen is they become Sophmores, unless they are one and done, of course. UNC won't do much this year, but they will be good next year. They lost , what, 3 players to the first round last year? Agree with you on MSU, people are probably overestimating them based on Izzo's reputation and body of work. Indiana looks amazing, but I am concerned about the lack of a home game and an easy schedule. Illinois is surprising, that was a terrific win at Gonzaga, you go on the road a few time zones away and beat the No. 10 team at their place, that is impressive. Mich looks realy good.

Little late, but this was my stated homer talk. Of all of the FF people I picked, I'd say Kentucky looks like the least likely at this point. MSU doesn't dominate November and December, but Izzo just makes March his own.

Butler is giving Indiana (#1) a tough time right now. Hoosiers down by 5 with 4 minutes left. I didn't expect this.
