Not only that, he is building VCU into a major power all on his own, the gap between the bluebloods and the mid majors has been narrowing for years, and an environment like VCU, where he has become a major program, might be enough to keep him there forever.

Duke has Wojo who is the heir to throne. Indiana will lock up Crean for a long time. Boeheim is getting older so maybe Cuse.

Looks like Northwestern is going to hire Duke's Collins. Good hire there.

reportedly 3 - 3.5

look at this way, he's making now making 1.5 (really 2) in a place with low cost of living, the city LOVES him so his job is extremely secure, he can do whatever he wants in the program, there are no expectations because it's still VCU, and he keeps his wife happy.

vs going to a place in the eye of the media where if he doesn't win the tournament in 5 years he's out.

+1. VCU bends over backwards for him. He is by far the most beloved person in the city. I've run into him twice, once with his wife and baby out for a walk and the other time at a grocery store, and both times got the impression he's a genuinely nice guy. I have no doubt that keeping his wife happy is a big reason reason he's staying. Also, Richmond is a cool city. All of my Northern friends who live here now love it.

There was some article a few years back in SI i think at how football and basketball national championships led to an increase of students applying, thus making it more selective to get it in.

If I remember correctly, After MSU won in 2000, the application rate went up like 15-20%. Florida had a similar rise when they won both football and basketball in the same year in 05 or 06.

That's probably the surest sign yet that they're fucking worthless.

I said it earlier in the thread, Syracuse's 2-3 zone causes a ton of trouble for people.

Marquette! (avid fan since 1970)

They have a real chance with Syracuse, having beaten them on their home court earlier in the season.

So much for all big ten final four

Really hoping my boys don't look like an intramural team for the 1st half again. Michigan won't let us back into the game like UNC did.

Marquette has that blimp in the middle that could cause trouble for Syracuse if he doesn't have a heart attack during the game but the key to beating that zone is a big man or two that can pass and shoot consistently from the top of the key. Otherwise the 3 point shooters get shut down and the guys driving are faced with the two big shot blockers.
