Sagara Shoes from Indonesia

Hello gentlemen, has anyone purchased a pair of shoes from Sagara? I already placed an order, but I'd like to know if someone here has a pair and what their overall experience is like and how they like their shoes.

I started my interest in Indonesian shoemakers since I saw the Santalum video on Vimeo. Their craftsmen appear to be very traditional and skilled. Unfortunately, their customer service was the worst customer service I ever experienced in my life. Even a stockist had trouble with them as well and no longer carries their brand. (I went with the stockist since I didn't want to deal with Santalum.) That ended up with a cancelled order.

Anyways, I eventually stumbled upon Sagara and their products looked far superior in quality and style in comparison to Santalum. So I decided to order the following:

Imperial III - Whiskey Calfskin

Capital II - Chestnut Calfskin

I'll post my entire order experience and review of both pairs when they arrive. Maybe I'll take some pics too. Thanks for reading.

Hey, I just placed an order last week for the tan Rough-Outs from them as well. After I ordered and paid I havent heard from them for almost a week now - wondering if it's just a busy time? Did you have this experience?

Anyway like you, have been impressed with the look of quality. Will post here if when/if I get them.

Yes,

Before I ordered, I've been getting slow responses. However, I recently sent payment and I'm assuming I'd hear a response from them on Monday. I'll keep you up to date with any new information. Please let me know how things go for you as well. Thanks!

Yes, I'll post a review along with some photos when I get them. However, if I were you, I'd contact Sagara right now. They are having a sale and I don't know when the sale is over. Plus the boots I ordered, were the last in my size, so availability is something you should think about. If what you want is sold out, you could always ask them to make one for you, but that could take weeks.

Thanks , i did see the sale on their website . This is a link to a website that has a few photos of their shoes with some guy wearing them to show you the fit , if you have the time to read the the whole thread some guy comments on the quality of the leather after 5 months of wear ,

Thanks, it looks like there are multiple guys on sufu who own the Imperial line of boots. I remember seeing a different post on sufu somewhere. Someone posted a few pics of his boots as well. The unconfirmed quality of the leather is a bit off-putting, but I've never seen such beautiful looking boots in my life so far. For the price, I'm willing to take a chance.

I'll be keeping an eye on this. The value looks ridiculous.

What's a shiller? At first, I thought it was a slang word from the UK, but I noticed you're from CA. I'm in LA and I never heard that word before.

For the boots I ordered, you have to size down one size. The LWB's run true to size. You should contact Sagara about a store and also, check their website for sizing info. They note whether the shoe is true to size or not.

I would be interested to know what "shillers" are as I've never come across it in the English language .

I have sent them an email concerning shipping charges to UK but haven't received a reply yet .

Never mind; I know what a shiller is. It's still not a real word and I doubt anyone here is a shill. I have some dislikes about Sagara already, but I don't want to say anything about them yet until I get the shoes to do a full review.

Yeah, I'm still waiting for any kind of response confirming he sees my payment and is shipping them...

I think we can all agree that the customer service is bad. I've had bad luck dealing with Indonesian shoemakers so far. This may be my last purchase from any Indonesian brand. I'll stick with American and European shoemakers from now on. I can't complain too much, because it's only been about 3 business days so far. I just don't like how their site says:

DELIVERY

  • Domestic Delivery
    1. Orders and payment placed before 3pm (Monday – Friday) will be delivered at the same day.
    2. Orders and payment placed after 3pm (Monday – Friday) will be delivered at the next day.
    3. Orders and payment placed on Saturday & Sunday, will be delivered at Monday.
  • International Delivery
    1. Orders and payment placed before 3pm (Monday – Friday) will be delivered at the next day.
    2. Orders and payment placed after 3pm (Monday – Friday) will be delivered at the day after tomorrow.
    3. Orders and payment placed on Saturday & Sunday, will be delivered at Monday.

*Please note that all orders placed on holiday will be delivered on next day.

Obviously they don't follow their own policies on shipping. If they said it would take 4 days to process my order before shipping, I would be more understanding. However, not responding is very unprofessional.
