You did the right thing Belly, and as it is a non-clothing expenditure, it is not held against you.

Look on the bright side - you'd feel so much worse if you picked up a pair of shoes and then found out you had to service your brakes after that. That's happened to me a few times.

Thanks MOL...I now officially report to duty.

Good point. With Winter just around the corner, no amount of shoes would have given me peace of mind should the brakes fail on snowy road.

I just wanted to share some of my recent progress. My average monthly clothing expenditure over the last 12 months was $580, which is completely insane for a 25 year old. I've spent $120 in Sept & Nov this far combined and I don't see any reason to revert back now. happy.gif In addition to keeping money in my wallet, I've also regained a lot of time and energy that I used to expend on SF and #menswear blogs plotting how to spend my money. I'm in the process of channeling this new found energy into investing and being productive pursuits. Cutting down on clothing has been really rewarding.

Curious to see how our American friends hold up tomorrow for black friday.

Walked by Holt Renfrew (the Canadian version of Saks) and they had a "pre-black-friday sale" which was pretty weird - especially since black friday hasn't really caught on in canada on account of people having to work. Poked my head in - walked away with a clean conscience. smile.gif

Just discovered the thread with all the cyber monday sales - bad thoughts did cross my mind. I'll keep that thread in mind for next year devil.gif

Survived both Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Interesting development with the Hober tie I bought as a gift (with myself in mind). The guy just expressly told me something along the lines of: "A****, don't buy me a fucking tie for Christmas. I know how much you love them. I don't." This was after I told him I'd gotten him the perfect gift. I was actually disappointed...I really thought he'd like a tie (he comments on my ties regularly). I think I'll give it to another friend.

Anyway, my only break so far was still those AE's mentioned earlier and I donated close to double their value in clothes to hopefully serve as a mitigating factor. Regardless of whether I make the cut given my indiscretion (and I'll take an asterix by name if I do), this challenge has definitely helped me curtail my spending.

That sucks - there's nothing worse than buying someone a thoughtful gift - only to find out they don't appreciate it. For a second I thought this was going to end with "can I keep it without violating the NPC club rules???" happy.gif

Someone in the family purchased a Coach bag for my sister as a present which I thought was a really thoughtful and generous gift - but she is not at all into designer anything, so she didn't really appreciate it. One day at a restaurant she got a food stain on it and I said she should get it dry cleaned - her response was "it's not worth it - the bag probably costs like $15" cry.gif

He didn't know I had purchased him a tie. He might now, depending on how good my poker face is. I'm going to have to figure out what kind of wine he likes. I wonder what he is getting me. I hope it's a tie.

The only reason I'm not keeping the tie is because of this club. Seriously.

Bought a pair of Toru Burch as xMas gift from Bloomingdale.

In the cart but backed out on a J Crew sportcoat, a Boss Black full-zip sweater, a pair of Burberry donegal pants, and a pair of AE Park Avenue. satisfied.gif
