The big wool jackets thread

Hi,

I'm new to the forum as a member but have been going here everytime I've needed advice on buying clothes. Up until now I've always managed to find the information I need in other threads.

I'm looking to find a nice warm wool jacket for winter here in Sweden. I've been looking at the Barbour Landguard jacket but I'm a bit worried the collar might be too big as well as if it's warm enough. Have you had any experience with that model?

Do you guys have any other ideas for what brand I could look to? I don't really want a coat as they tend to be too long for my taste.

Thanks a lot!

They're pricey, but Loro Piana have some excellent casual cashmere jackets.

Wow those are way out of my price range. I'm sure they are excellent though!

Shott makes a 24 ounce Melton wool car coat that is about $300. Does this fit your requirements and price range?

I second this, if you want the best Pea Coat, go to Schott NYC

they have other coats as well, but famous for these Pea Coats...

Schott makes a GOOD peacoat, but it is far from the best. Not even close.

I really don't want a peacoat, I'd like something that looks a bit like a harrington jacket I suppose. As far as pricing goes, I want to spend max

£500-600.

Thanks for all the replies I really appreciate it!!

Just to help out a bit more I'm looking for something like this: http://www.barbourbymail.co.uk/Mens-Barbour-Landguard-Wool-Jacket.html but possibly a bit warmer.

For the rest of the thread if anyone else has any questions about peacoats or anything else in wool I thought we might discuss that :)
