I'd have put that one on the backburner and done a few Rogue One style films first. Where we will get to explore some new characters within the framework of the history of this universe. Hold off on the Han Solo and even Boba Fett films till you have had time to prove yourself good stewards of the franchise.

Isn't part of the point of the Han Solo character that he was kind of an a-hole prior to the events in ANH? Do we really need a movie about him flying around and being a space douche with Chewbacca?

you are correct we don't
this movie is bound to be super terrible

For the other old farts out there (or those of you who know how to use the interwebz), I'm picturing a sort of Run, Joe, Run in space.

The Han Solo film is being directed by Lord and Miller, so I'm actually optimistic. Both The Lego Movie and the rebooted Jump Street films were fun, and neither were the sort of thing that you'd expect to turn out well.

If Disney give them a free rein then they might surprise us. But there's also a risk that it'll be a very obvious origin story about how Han met Chewie, bought his first vest, and won the Falcon.

I guess that we'll find out in 2018.

I'm late to the party, but was anyone else somewhat miffed that Wedge Antilles nor Lando got a mention?

They tried to get Wedge into the film, but the actor declined.

Right. I know Denis Lawson declined. As for Billie Dee Williams - well, he's always said he'd do it if asked.

I would have settled for a throw-away line to respect the Rebellion's best pilot and one of their generals. Something, dammit!

I know Ataturk would have loved some more nostalgia added to the film. tounge.gif

Regarding Lando, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he makes it into one of the future films. You could easily see him leading a small fleet into battle to get revenge for the death of an old friend.

If Lando Calrissian does not make an appearance in one of the next two films, the new trilogy will have failed. Although making Finn his son will be a bridge too far.

I'm definitely hoping that doesn't happen.
