I think the TIE Fighter game is my second favorite video game ever. First place still belongs to the original X-Com.

Just watched it last night, some 3D 4DX showing, I quite enjoyed it. When the big death happened, I was 'oh no' but in retrospect, it was probably the right thing to do. I liked the new characters except Ren's big reveal and I thought 'what a dork' when I saw his face. Could have done with less of the final scene, I kept thinking why didn't the millenium falcon land nearer the summit?

I just saw it a 2nd time but in 3D with my brother. Not worth the extra money for 3D.

I don't believe those count as EU.

Is there any confirmation that Disney gives a shit about all these books and whatnot?

Yes. They have an official stance that they are not cannon anymore. It's a fresh start. Non of the old books count and are now called "legends".

They also said they will use anything from them for the new continuity as they see fit. So don't be surprised if plot points appear here or there in the new films.

Did anyone here play Rogue Squadron PC/N64?

I did for the N64 and used the cheat codes to fly in the MF for most of the missions. That game was awesome. Especially the Death Star trench run bonus mission.

Fuck yes!!! I wish they did an Endor level on the first Rogue Squadron game. (They did in the later ones).

Really wanted to pilot a Slave 1 or Imperial shuttle but it was not possible.

You guys are making me want to drop $10 on the GOG edition of TIE Fighter. That was one of the only 2 video games I was truly obsessed with.

I also used the unlimited lives cheat and would use all my proton torpedoes in the MF. Once I would run out, I'd purposely crash into an enemy.

So Empire Strikes Back doesn't end on a cliffhanger? :)

I agree that I'd have liked to have seen what Lucas would have done for Episode VII. I think that it would have been tonally closer to the prequels, whereas The Force Awakens is a remix of A New Hope.

Do people really consider this ending a cliffhanger? They accomplished the 2 clearly defined goals in the movie: destroying Death Star 3.0 and finding Luke. The ending is an epilogue, not a cliffhanger.

Loved Rogue Squadron for N64. Also, Shadows of the Empire was awesome - that final space battle was spectacular.

Also loved my Game Cube version of Rogue Leader - bought the system for that game. Jedi Outcast was a blast too.

Also, Splinter of the Mind's Eye was the first EU. Read that when I was 12

I remember reading Splinter of the Mind's Eye. Didn't that end with Vader dying right after declaring his love for Leia or some other nonsense?
