Nice to see Kasdan involved.

Still expect this to be trash.

Can't wait for the awkward unfunny situation joke with Chewbacca...

Would make more sense to give Lando a role, you could picture him climbing political ladder and getting some sort of power position in the New Republic. Somehow I'd prefer to see him instead of midget droid and a walking carpet.

The next "Star Wars" generation in conference.

Han and Leia's (rumored) daughter looks like a cutie :inlove:

Now they're whining that the casting announcement doesn't meet the female quotas.

Welcome to 2014 (where women and minorities have rights apparently)

They have already announced one female role is still out there to be cast. It's expected to be a fairly large one.

The right to appear in fictional stories is guaranteed by the International Declaration of Human Rights.

Although it is funny seeing ultra-liberal Hollywood getting called out for not adhering to some form of political correctness.

It's also been confirmed that this will not prevent him from doing the Godzilla sequel. Is this one going to be the Solo film?

This reminds me I still need to do a short review of Godzilla in the other thread. shog[1].gif

FANTASTIC FOUR's Josh Trank To Direct STAR WARS Standalone Film

In addition to the episodes of a new Star Wars trilogy, Lucasfilm and Disney continue development of multiple stand-alone movies that will offer new stories beyond the core Saga. The newest director to come on board is Josh Trank.

"We're thrilled to welcome Josh into the family," says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. "He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX."

Trank states, "The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time."

Trank captured imaginations worldwide with his critically lauded directorial debut Chronicle, a fresh and engaging take on the superhero genre. Trank is currently at work on The Fantastic Four for 20th Century Fox.

I would prefer star wars to be a little darker movies and little more mature like ESB so i'm probably gonna be dissapointed in what they create

In a perfect world, standalone STAR WARS films would be given to the likes of Tarantino, Cronenberg, Cuaron, etc
