i bought a pair of H&M slim dress pants and although they are slim, they aren't as skinny as i have become use to because of my new cures...do you guys usually tailor your pants to get a slimmer fit? How do you guys want them to fit?

Out of curiousity, dior makes slim jeans, how do their slacks fit? anyone have measurements? i just want to get an idea of how they make their pants fit, tapered? flared? i think im going to get them tailored and want to know the sizes to tell the tailor, i dont want them to look ridiculous but look fitting and such as well...all help is appreciated, thanks!

btw i posted this in the streetwear, because i feel the mens clothing forum would give me too much of a formal traditional fit, i want something a bit more fashion forward... thanks again

Whatup men.style refugee.

Dior slacks fit a lot like their jeans, not quite as slim but it's still a "dior" cut. The new collection featured some more baggy stuff and I havn't seen it in person so I can't speak for it, but older Dior was certainly skinny. I believe they offered some tapered pants, just call a Dior boutique for measurements.

For a cheaper alternative the pants APC offers are very slim, the ones designated as that style fit as close to the new cures as you can get with an actual pair of pants.

Personally I don't like slim fitted slacks, since you asked. My aesthetic with streetwear either goes tight pants and tight long shirts, or tight on the bottom with a lot of volume, or a boxy cut up top. When I wear slacks I tend to go more traditional and have everything quite proportionate. Since I have large shoulders, long legs, and I will likely be tucking my shirt in, ultra slim slacks make me look sort of silly. Still, I like them a bit smaller than the usual traditional cut, but never tapered.

Also, if you want a great pair of very slim dress pants you should check out Thick As Theives, there's an affiliate thread sticked at the top I think. Jason, who runs it, is a SF member and a great guy, as well as a sartorial king. The fit looks amazing (check out Brian's review thread for pics) and the price (especially for forum members) is extrememly reasonable.

I like my trousers slim and make them as such for my TaT line, but if they fit too skinny you're gonna blow out the knees pretty fast since wool isnt as stretch resilient as cotton denim.

I've found some Zara trousers fit surprisingly well (aka slim), better than HM slim trousers

I agree APC has some pretty slim cuts on the trousers

one good thing about trousers is, unlike a jacket, it's fairly easy to convert a looser fitting trouser into a slim fitting one and it's not a costly alteration either...so if I like the way a trouser looks (fabric/details) but the fit is off, I'll still get it knowing I can pump another $20-30 into it and get it just right. You shouldnt have to tell the tailor any specific sizes...he should be able to pin it to wear you want it cut down and go from there.

I find I can't go as slim as jeans -- too tight around crotch/legs

"Slacks" always makes me think of polyester sans-a-belt pants.
