Bonus up and coming artist: ZZ Ward

Here's a rare example of a rap song being sampled by a white female singer. Then the rapper hears the new version and is so impressed that he wants to be on the new version as well. And it's Gangsta Gibbs no less.

Tin House - these three guys recorded their first and only (self-titled) album in 1971 at the age of 18 with CBS Epic Records, under the wing of Johnny Winter's manager Steve Paul and produced by Rick Derringer. The band then disbanded and guitarist Floyd Radford toured with Johnny Winter from 1974 to 1976. After over 35 years, in Spring 2006, drummer Mike Logan contacted Radford to get the band together. Although after the Orlando Reunion Concert on September 16th, 2006 they had to replace bassist and vocalist Jeff Cole, Tin House is playing again as a 5-member group including David Mikeal on bass, keyboards and lead vocals, Jim Smith on bass, and Robby Crouse on guitar.

I have big respect for DJs who's been around for so long and turntablism takes huge loads of practice and skill.

That said, the music he played seems very ordinary (read: not exciting) and most of these "live" DJ shows where they play the songs out in real time sound worse than a regular DJ set.

 

I really dig this set by Blawan. While he might not be the best technical DJ, the tracks are dope and the set is packed with energy.

music will really just be updated versions, combinations/hybrids or minimized versions of the past for the most part, pretty much like fashion. the innovation will be in the approach to songwriting, production techniques, and technology. of course, this is only for music with typical structure, just like "wearable" clothing.

Parker, I don't know if you remember Mystery Machine from their first time around in the early-mid 90s, but they have come back with exactly this kind of thing, although it's a lot more powerful in the tradition of My Bloody Valantine...
