I do nasal snuff on occasion.

Snus is great stuff. Being Norwegian, I've had many opportunities to stick some finely ground tobacco in my upper lip, and it is strangely very satisfying.
It does have a history as being a "working class" sort of thing (used to be that snus was much much cheaper than smoking tobacco, and of course it's easier to do manual labor with some snus under your lip than if you're constantly smoking), but this association is almost gone. It contains more nicotine than cigarettes and is a pretty addictive habit. Interestingly, studies have been unable to conclusively link snus to cancer. Many athletes in Sweden and Norway use snus instead of smoking since it doesn't affect cardio capabilities. Portion (the little teabags) is much easier for a beginner and also just less mess, but in some circles it can be seen as feminine. You can also get it flavored these days (which is seen as feminine in nearly all circles), but I personally think the flavored snus tastes awful.
Brands that I enjoy:
General
Roda Lacket
Nick + Johnny (this is the good stuff. recently discovered, never looked back).

No idea where you can find it in the US since I usually just bring some back from home.
And NO, it is decidedly not like Cope, Kodiak, etc. etc.

Too late, probably, but go to swedishsnus.com and you can find stores all over Manhattan that sell General. If you want Ettan or something else, you can order it online at swedishsnus.com and have it delivered.

Not even close. Cope Long and Snuff is what I chewed when I was playing Junior A and we had a few Swedish players on our team that introduced me to snus. Overall, it's a much more mild, almost sweet tobacco in general, and it's almost a dry paste rather than small pieces of leaf. It's supposed to be much healthier, as well. No fiberglass, arsenic, etc.

It also has less nicotine, which makes it fine as a a replacement for a smoker, but for someone that chews American tobacco it really does absolutely nothing. Tastes nice, though.

Yeah QFT. Snus works as a substitute for light smokers, but for anyone who smokes moderately or heavily or who has tried Cope or Skoal, it just isn't going to cut it.

Do you have any references? According to some [Finnish] sources I found that one gets 3-5 times the amount of nicotine using snus compared to smoking.

Um, personal experience with all of the aforementioned products? Also, it's a question of rate of absorbtion, not just amount.

Have any of you guys tried Ariva? It is basically powdered tobacco compressed into a tablet that you stick between your lip and gum. It doesnt make your expectorate (no spit) and gives you a pretty satisfying jolt of nico in a more socially acceptable manner. I've smoked 1-2 packs a day for about 6 yrs now need to stop, bad. This stuff might do the trick.

DL

Its also pretty cheap BTW as a pack of 20 tablets is about 2.50$

I opted for Chantix instead of sublimation for smoking cessation.
