as an alternative to smoking, i've tried snus.

it's steam-cured and has very low levels of carcinogens.

plus, it doesn't produce saliva so no spitting.

anyone on here snus?

A: The only reason I clicked here was to see if maybe you had misspelled "anus"
as in, "Anyone tried anus?"

B: Why would I need a replacement for smoking, it works just fine?

I haven't, but thought about it obsessively after quitting smoking. In the end, though, if I'm going to use tobacco, I think I'd rather smoke for purely aesthetic reasons. There's just something unappealing about this look, regardless of health issues:

(Not my photo.)

Come to think of it, though, I think it was reading about snus that led me to discover Nudie, and, thus, raw denim and, eventually, this forum. So now it's all come full circle.

I thought it might be a variation of snew, as in:

"Anyone tried snew?"
"Snew? What's snew?"
"Oh not much, what's snew with you?"

1st Grade classic....

I sentence you... to death... BY SNU-SNU!!!

I've quit both smoking and snus. I smoked for nearly 10 years, took snus for maybe 1 and a half. Quitting the snus was much much harder. Health issues aside, it is very addictive. About the look, the woman in the picture is using the "bak" (bake) variant, think finely ground brown powder that you form into a ball and stick under your upper lip. This is not seen as a classy thing to do. The portion variant however, think small teabags of tobacco, come in different sizes and are mostly invisible (and don't leak brown spittle).

I know this joke reference but can't remember how it goes. It made me smile, nonetheless. Don't even need the real joke now.

I've only used it on exams, long-haul flights, etc., as a "softer" alternative to nicotine patches. Paradoxically, patches would make me feel like an addict.

I've tried snus. I didn't really like it.

i love snus. i've quit though, after using for 7-8 years. that was 4 days of hell until the physical withdrawal ended.
one snus is like 5+ cigarettes or something, speaking amounts of nicotine, and you have it in all the time, so you can imagine how addicted you get.
ah, wiki it.

i don't recommend anyone to start using. as an alternative to smoking; ok, sure. otherwise, stay away.

i'd really like one right now.

Swedish snus is fantastic stuff. Highly recommended. I used to smoke far too much while drinking (I don't normally smoke) but since I switched to snus I've stopped smoking almost completely. Plus you can enjoy your nicotine whenever you want.

Where I can by swedish snus in NYC? And how commonly it´s available? Prices?
Snus is like Copenhagen snuff only drier. I used it when I was a high school student in Sweden and cigarettes were outside my budget. When I got back to the States my mother begged me to go back to cigarettes instead. I suspect that if you start using it you will find few girls willing to kiss you. Much better to just quit smoking.
