The engine nacelles on the 747-800 look alot like the engine nacelles on the up and coming 787.

That 747LCF is quite fascinating, although not as fascinating for me as the Airbus A300-600 ST Beluga.

It's the same airplane as the one I posted, the one I posted has just been painted up into how it will look when they are all finished. The green ones will be painted as well, thank god.

It's because they share the same engine. Many new technology and renovation in the 787, like the wing design, cockpit, ligter and stronger composite materials, and bigger windows found their way into the 747-8.

Apparently there was more than one Buran. This is all that is left of the one that actually went into space-



The hangar collapsed onto it. That is the right-side windshield on the bottom there.

According to Wikipedia there are 5 known Buran craft-
1. A test aircraft, registered under the Czech aviation registry as OK-GLI, was bought by the Sinsheim Museum (a prominent German aviation museum) and is stored in Bahrain. This one never flew in space.

2. Buran itself, which was destroyed as shown above. Spent 3 total hours in orbit in space.

3. Ptichka, the second orbiter, which is pretty much complete but is stored in Kazakhstan, home of Borat Sagdiyev. It never went into space.

4. Aircraft 2.02 is being dismantled at the factory at Tushino.

5. Aircraft 2.03 was barely even built and is now gone, and is probably beer cans in small towns across Siberia.

I would assume that the Buran orbiter shown on the An-225 is the actual Buran that was destroyed.
