I grew up in TN. There was this guy in high school I did not really like but he was in my social group. He was racist but had yellow fever. For one family Christmas party he brought his Chinese girlfriend. His uncle, who was in the klan, asked to speak with him outside. When they got out back his uncle punched him in the face then left the party.

I always thought that was a great example of how southerners can use violence as a well measured form of communication. Here in CA people only get violent when they go off the handle and can't keep their anger in check.

I honestly can't tell if this is supposed to be funny or not. You state that the Klan is not hateful, then follow it up with an anecdote about a man who punched his high school-aged nephew at Christmas because he dated an Asian woman.

No, see, it's good because rather than repress his racial bigotry, he just lashed out with violence instead! Everybody wins!

More fun from Europe:

A Syrian refugee has admitted to setting fire to a German shelter where he was staying, spray-painting swastikas on the walls to make it look like a political crime. The asylum seeker said the arson attack was in response to poor conditions at the shelter.
"During police questioning, the man admitted that he had set [a] fire in the cellar of the multi-use building," police spokesman Achim Hansen told NBC News, adding that the refugee had also stated that he “had a lack of hope for the future."

The fakest hate crime yet

A gay preacher in Austin, Texas, said he ordered a cake from Whole Foods, depicting the words “Love Wins.”

What he said he received is a cake that says “Love Wins Fag,” and he’s filed a lawsuit against Whole Foods saying the market has discriminated against him.

The pastor, Jordan Brown, says he didn’t realize the cake had a homophobic slur on it until he got into his vehicle, and showed the cake in a YouTube video in a box, still sealed.

It's hard to imagine any place less likely to do something like this than a Whole Foods in Austin. It's also hard to imagine someone buying a custom cake and getting it to their car before they realize that it has FAG written on the center of it in huge letters.

It's not hard to imagine an attention whore whoring it up, though. Although in the internet age we rarely have to imagine it.

Yeah, highly unlikely.

Is it just me or does the FAG look photoshopped?  There is no depth to the letters.  Hell it doesn't even look like photoshop - probably used MS paint.

photoshopped or not, those three letters look completely different than the others above it.

I love this line from the story:

Quote:
According to a reporter, from KXAN local news, Mr. Brown says he remembers the woman who wrote on the cake, and she was a white caucasian.

Of course she was. Of course.

Wholefoods has countersued for defamation. Turns out they have security camera feeds from the store that demonstrates the guy is lying - there was a price sticker/UPC code on the top of the box at checkout. In his photo of the box, which he claims is still sealed, the sticker is on the side. Also, the wholefoods person who made the cake is gay and says the pastor is lying.

It's serious. They are not a cartoonishly evil group that goes out and commits mob violence and lynchings these days. As a white person that grew up with an asian gf living in the south, I'd feel safer living in a neighborhood of klansmen than a black neighborhood.

What? A blonde haired blue eyed German would feel safe in Nazi Germany, what does that prove?

I'd feel safe in a community of midget rapists. What does that say about me?

This bathroom issue, and “transgenderism” more broadly, is a useful ideological vehicle for relativism. They pretend to buy into it because it advances their relativistic, hedonistic, self-idolizing agenda. It should also be noted that recognizing the biological reality of the sexes has become a “conservative” position – even worse, a “Christian” position – so liberals feel they have to disagree on principle. If enough of us made a point of affirming the laws of gravity, liberals would start denying it just to be on the opposite side. That’s how conversations work in this country.

I suppose believing in men and women as separate sexes/genders is now discrimination in the context of public restrooms.

I couldn't care less where the article is featured. I've read noteworthy pieces on Huffington Post.

I still maintain that mandated unisex bathrooms in all public venues is the answer. It also separates the slacktivists from those willing to have it impact them.
