A woman who told cops she was called a terrorist and slashed on her cheek in lower Manhattan on Thursday later admitted she made up the story, police said early Friday.

The woman, who wore a headscarf, told authorities a blade-wielding wacko sliced open her face as she left a Manhattan cosmetology school, police sources said.

The 20-year-old student at the Make-up Designory on Broadway near Rector St., said she was walking toward Trinity Church at 4:10 p.m. Her attacker, she said, came up behind her by Wall St., grabbed her arm, and slashed a roughly 2-inch gash into her cheek, police said.

You're missing the context. If she had actually been attacked, that would have been evidence of racism and Islamophobia. So, in context, this was an act of racism.

What's important is that it's started a conversation.

This is a good one:

Muslim woman run down by far-right activist during anti-Islamic rally in Brussels

The male passenger of the car is shown filming through the window moments before the car hits the Muslim woman, who is understood to have been badly injured.

Medics rushed to her aid and Belgian media reported that the alleged perpetrator was arrested.

Islamophobia has risen across Europe following terrorist attacks on the Paris office of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in January 2015 and the second Paris attacks in November 2015, as well as the bombings at Brussels airport and a metro station on 22 March 2016.

Except that it was not a far-right activist that ran the woman down.

The two men arrested for the attack have now been named as “Redouane B.” and “Mohamed B.” in multiple local news reports.

Another Belgium news site, DH Net, reports the men are 20-year old “local youths” who were “under the influence of alcohol and drugs”, and their vehicle had been rented out by a friend.

Kind of interesting to see liberal suicide over there. Think it emphasizes the need for balance, if anything.

Indiana University Students Mistake Priest for KKK Member

In a world where writing "Trump 2016" in chalk, on a campus, is deemed a hate crime, this must have been a big deal among Indiana U. snowflakes.

A Klansman in a robe! Oh the horror.

People need to get over the KKK. It's a tiny org at this point that probably has fewer members than NAMBLA, and half of them are FBI informants.

Fun fact. When I was in jr high my best friend's mom was dating a guy in the Klan. He was pretty cool to us kids. Gave us beer and what not. My buddy's mom is Mexican and I'm half black.

Man . . . that story did not live up to the lead.

How gutless do you have to be to apologize for this?

And GAP had such a masculine, rugged image before this. Pity.

Klan ideology is not as hateful or radical as most people think, despite the history.

I grew up in TN. There was this guy in high school I did not really like but he was in my social group. He was racist but had yellow fever. For one family Christmas party he brought his Chinese girlfriend. His uncle, who was in the klan, asked to speak with him outside. When they got out back his uncle punched him in the face then left the party.

I always thought that was a great example of how southerners can use violence as a well measured form of communication. Here in CA people only get violent when they go off the handle and can't keep their anger in check.

I was offered a position very high up in the Southern Poverty Law Center. One of the reasons I turned it down, aside from the location of the corporate offices, was their obsession with the Klan and labeling hate groups. That seems to be the thing they prided themselves on the most is being the go-to decider of what is a hate group or not. Good for them for finding a niche but a lot of those groups consisted of a dozen or so people who had hung out at one time or another and said something racist on-line.
