How does this jacket look, (I think this could be a low armhole problem?)

This one is 36R

This on is 38R

When I raise my arms the whole jacket crumples in the shoulder and becomes a mess, is this just normal for jackets? I dont know much about buying them. Sorry about the pictures, this is the biggest mirror I have at the moment. Is a 40R going to fix this problem? Btw, this is a ludlow jacket from J.crew

I think fit is the primary concern, in which case the 36R is clearly the best option. May need a little bit of shortening (maybe 1/3-1/2 inch) on the sleeves, but otherwise the 36R looks to be a great fit. If anything, the shoulders could probably be a little slimmer and narrower. If the shoulders are too wide, the fabric is going to crumple around them too much when you lift your arms. Higher arm holes would also be of assistance in eliminating that problem. But as is, with that particular model of jacket, 36R is the best fit from what I can see. Also can't tell if there are ripples in the back, so the 36R may be too big, even. I know that I take 36R generally and that the Ludlow is a little roomy for me in the shoulders.
