Perhaps you've seen the photo? Posted on both the Viberg and Horween blogs, the below pic has drawn quite a bit of attention.

A number of members have expressed interest in a Viberg x SF collab on this boot: Viberg's 1950's service boot in the original "Boondockers" leather, roughout "Marine Field Shoe" from Horween. After consulting with Brett Viberg, he's offered to do a collaboration at a 10% discount if we can get ten or more people together to order the same boot. Changes can be made to the boot above, but no modifications to individual boots within the group order.

Details are still up in the air, but if you're interested in the order, sign up on this thread.

Thus far, the only alteration that has been suggested is to go with commando soles.

Feel free to spread word of this thread around.

I was quoted at $665 per pair with around a %10 discount off from that, depending on how many guys jump on the order.

I would definitely sign on for this, but absolutely not with commando soles. Knowing that my 2cents is likely not worth even that, I think that this is a great opportunity to get as close to a boondocker as possible and overcome all of the short comings from the various versions offered by all the WWII Militaria dealers. A commando sole would be a deal breaker unless it was a mini lug recessed and hidden from side view. I actually think something hard and unforgiving for the sole makes more sense, ensures the sturdiness of the boots and prolongs the need for resole. I will say that the WWII Impressions version that I had felt strange having such soft thin leather and such a rigid sole. So if folks like the idea of a boondocker/desert boot, I could see that as well.

ideally, I'd want what is pictured (and as such, have traded emails with them too, just havent had time to measure my feet)

I'll wait to see if ten people can agree upon something and save some coin. if not, I'll just push forward with the pictured makeup

This! Especially the commando heel will not work with this kind of boot so it will need to be another kind of rubber heel or the exact make as pictures, that would work for me too

I'm interested in a pair if it remains as is. The shoe looks perfect and thank you for posting.

As pictured would get my vote, and purchase.
