Advice for Pea Coat?

Thread Starter

Hi,

I was thinking of getting a pea coat for this winter. However, I really need some advice. I'd prefer one in grey, but black and dark blue is also fine. Budget is max 300 euro.

I've been looking at these three:

Any help is appreciated!

Regards,

I'm not one to not advocate for something non-RL, but Schott makes good Peacoats.

Frankly I have had several, and most of them are pretty much the same.

For $100 over your budget, this one is pretty unbeatable:

Get a real pea coat. No reason to pay big bucks for a fashion copy. Either Schott or Sterlingwear. Grey is the way to go. Here's a nice slim-fit one from Schott:

Like I said, Schott - they have been doing it for 4 generations, there's a reason why they are still in business.

Why Not go for a Gloverall Churchill Reefer? http://www.gloverall.com/shop-item?id=3

Really much better quality than anything from the high street or most fashion houses - they also do some good collaborations with YMC if you can stretch your budget a bit.

But where is it possible to buy Schott in Europe?

Even if they ship from the US, customs can increase the final price a lot.

Whatever you do, buy one that's fairly slim-fitting. I think they tend to be oversized. As J. Crew freak I can recommend the J. Crew peacoat, and it is nice and slim without going into the shrunken jacket look.

is it necessary to size down in the Schott 740; measurements for a 36 seem large
